In February 2023, the renowned Old Fourth Distillery was officially acquired by Shortbarrel Bourbon, a well-respected player in the spirits industry. This acquisition marks the next chapter in the story of Old Fourth, a distillery that has captivated the hearts of connoisseurs for years.

2014

In 2014, Old Fourth Distillery made history as Atlanta’s first legal distillery since Prohibition. Founded with a vision of blending tradition with innovation, we set out to craft world-class spirits using time-honored methods and the finest ingredients. What began as a passion project in the heart of Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward quickly grew into a symbol of Southern craftsmanship and hospitality.

From our very first batches of vodka and gin to our award-winning bourbons and experimental cask finishes, Old Fourth Distillery has stayed true to its roots while continuously pushing the boundaries of distillation. Our spirits are a tribute to the rich history of American whiskey-making, enhanced by modern techniques and an unwavering commitment to quality.

2024

Now celebrating 10 years of dedication, Old Fourth Distillery has become a staple in Atlanta’s craft spirits community. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in every bottle we produce, from our single-barrel bourbons to our meticulously aged Double Cask Finish Series. Each release tells a story—a journey of patience, precision, and passion.

As we raise a glass to the past decade, we are equally excited about the future. Old Fourth Distillery remains dedicated to innovation, community, and the art of whiskey-making. From expanding our barrel aging program to launching new limited-edition releases, we continue to evolve while staying true to the values that brought us here.

Old Fourth Distillery is now proudly owned by Shortbarrel Bourbon, marking a new chapter in our journey. Our production has officially moved to Norcross, GA, where we are distilling all of our products in-state, continuing our legacy with an even greater commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Over time, their expertise in identifying exceptional barrels evolved into a full-fledged brand, dedicated to blending and finishing high-quality, small-batch bourbons. Focused on innovation while respecting tradition, Shortbarrel carefully selects and ages its bourbon to achieve a balance of rich caramel, oak, spice, and smooth complexity.
